Why Spinal Decompression?
Spinal decompression is a non-invasive treatment that gently stretches your spine to change its position, takes pressure off your discs, and creates negative pressure within the disc.
We perform this treatment on a specialized traction table, and it is a slow and steady treatment.
Once you are positioned on the table, a precise stretching action creates a reverse vacuum that helps draw any protruding disc material back into its original place.
Spinal decompression also helps to improve blood flow to your discs which promotes oxygen and nutrients to flow freely into the affected area. This helps to promote cell renewal, tissue repair, and long-term pain relief.
When you get on the table, a harness goes around your hips, attaching to the other end of the table that is close to your feet. Once we activate the table, the lower part slides gently back and forth, gradually lengthening your spine and relieving pressure.
As this happens, you’ll feel a sensation of the spine being stretched and then relaxed, stretched and then relaxed, and we can adjust the force of the table as needed to help avoid muscle spasms.
Many people like spinal decompression treatment because it doesn’t involve surgery or pain medication. There is also rarely any discomfort during the treatment.
There is also no downtime associated with the treatment. You can return to your day as soon as your appointment is completed.
Even though spinal decompression is slow and gentle, there is a lot happening that helps facilitate the healing process.
If you simply cover up the pain with medication, any relief you feel is temporary. You’ll have a false sense of security which may result in your condition getting even worse.
Spinal decompression is an effective treatment for a range of different issues that affect your spine and nearby areas, including:
- Bulging discs
- Herniated discs
- Degenerative discs
- Pinched nerves
- Spinal stenosis
- Post-surgical pain
- Hip Pain
